Elgin is a city in sections 27-28 of Elgin township, Wabasha County, Minnesota. The population was 1,089 at the 2010 census.

Elgin was first settled in 1855, and organized as a township in 1858. The city of Elgin (first known as West Greenwood), was founded in 1878 when the railway branch from Eyota and Plainview was completed. It incorporated as a village in 1895. A post office was established in 1857.
