Center for High Angular Resolution Astronomy
The six individual one meter telescopes in the array are separated by as much as 330 meters from one another. This gives the combined light beams of the intergrated instrument a virtual aperature of more than 1,000 feet. As a result, potential resolving power could be as sharp as 0.2 milliarcsecond. That would be equivalent to a small coin seen from a distance of 999 miles (~1,600km)
