mine, mining, gold mine

Production at the historic Dome mine has been continuous since 1910 and it is North America’s longest continuously operating gold mine. It is now owned by Goldcorp Inc. and forms a key part of the Porcupine Gold Mines, which includes the nearby Pamour and Hoyle Pond mines and the famous Hollinger property. Ore from these mines is processed at the Dome mill. While mining ceased at the open pit (the "Dome Super Pit") in 2007, underground mining operations continue. Combined, both operations have produced more than 17 million ounces of gold over a remarkable 100 year history.
Exploratory drilling at these properties and at other former mine sites now owned by Goldcorp continues to find new sources of gold ore, and mining will continue here for many years to come.
