This now deserted island Kotisaari was once the main island of a flourishing village Pitkäpaasi. Before the first world war there were more than 400 inhabitants in the village. The people lived from fishing and piloting. After second world war Russia took over the area and the people were relocated in the remaining area of Finland. All the houses were destroyed.
