Popular, dense urban neighborhood at the intersection of Hennepin and Lake. Mix of quirky shops and restaurants along with some chain stores. Blocks from Lake Calhoun and Lake of the Isles. Several movie theaters and two comedy theaters help to make Uptown an entertainment destination in the Twin Cities.

While some characterize the area as full of yuppies, the area has a wide range of residents and guests - ranging from young families, students, elderly, young professionals, and Baby Boomers. Recently, much of the affordable housing stock became more scarce as many apartment units converted into condo units.

  • Uptown's borders are not well-defined, even by locals. I drew the polygon to include some of the major points: Hennepin & Lake, Calhoun Square, and Lyndale & Lake. The Uptown Association doesn't include Lyndale & Lake, but it has a similar feel.
