Former site of two railyards, belonging to the Minneapolis & St. Lous and Great Northern railroads. The MSTL facility became part of the Chicago and North Western in 1960, and the GN facility became part of the Burlington Northern in 1970. By the early 1980s both facilities had been closed and torn up, and today all that remains is the junction where the shortline Twin Cities and Western railway splits off from the BNSF (ex-GN) Wayzata Subdivision roughly along the former MSTL right of way.

  • Cedar Lake Yard was the principal Minneapolis facility of the Minneapolis & St Louis railroad (M&StL). It went to the Chicago & Northwestern (CNW) when the latter railroad purchased the former in 1960.
