My Alma Mater -- the then reasonably Prestigious Valayanchirangara High School is in a Bad Shape when it graduated into a Junior College
Earlier the Valavu was only for the ''Chira ''(meaning a Small
natural lake ). This ''Valavu''over the years must have constantly
impacted on the vertebral column of the nearby inhabitants and
eventually succeeded in bending the rigid back bone so as to be in
alignment with the Valavu ( Bend) of the Chira. The name of this
Yahoo group is also aptly chosen and it amply portrays the genetical
impact of the Valavu of the Chira.
The soul of Valayanchirangara is in its "Saraswathy Kshetra" the
erstwhile VHS ( Vlayanchirangara High School) and now the Higher
Secondary School. During the last century it used to shine like a
vermillon in the up and coming suburb of perumbavoor , but the first
decade of the new century reduced it to a puss oozing scar on the
hitherto immaculate face of the Hamlet ,which boasts of a chequered
past and culturally developed heritage .Some time I used to
wonder .....is it not the 'one-up manship' ??? Else is it not the
fake intellectual exterior of the Valayanchirangarite s which is
emasculating this more than a century old institution and polluting
this immaculate Village
An enterprising youngster who was a substaff in VHS had to sacrifice
his life out of fear of getting caught and punished , as he was
forced to do some forgery , reliably learnt to help the daughter of
his Superior ( Head Master)in getting the job confirmed .All the
people alleged to be involved ,are enjoying the yummy juicy fruits of
that forgery , but no one had even crocodile tears to shed, even when
last rights were performed on Shyam's body . Alas ! Shame on you, my
dear Revolutionaries of Valayanchirangara !!! All of You are standing
naked !!! In the story only the King stood naked !!! Here all of
you !!! Why all of have put banana in your mouth at the same time !!!!
Have you not heard of the recent incident !!!! Coital intersection in
a the car parked in the wilderness of Kothamangalam! !! Two teachers
of the VHS are said to be involved !!! One is a Nowjavan (youngster,
most eligible bachelor)and the other is a married lady teacher. The
management out of helplessness and as there was no other go to quench
the public ire and wrath, suspended the Teachers for 1 year , it is
learned !!! If the poojarees of this sacred temple committed such a
vulgar crime , why did they not be given the punishment they
deserve ...... Dismissal .....We all know, they did not earn their
positions of Pujarees by knowing the right Mantras , but by standing
first in the Secret Auction !!! Painful ..... tears in my eyes .....
it is rolling down through my cheeks ..... quantum of which is
sufficient to wet my blouse and chunni ..... How can such Teachers
with criminal and cheating mind guide our children to lead a
meaningful life ......
In front of these criminals , former teachers are Gods .... Nothing
less than Gods ......Going back to the olden golden days of Eminent
teachers like RK Sir,AK Keshavapillai sir, TV Poulose Sir, Narayanan
Nair Sir,Varrier Sir, Bhaskaran Nair Sir, PM Poulose Sir, VR
Sir,Varkey Sir, Indiradevi Teacher ,Sreekumari Teacher ,TN Sir, Radha
Teacher ( Maths), Sita Teacher, Gangadharan Sir, Sudhakaran Sir .....
I think I have to end this list here ....These Teacher Gods are
towering 100 ft high ....... Me and my contemporaries were lucky to
be taught by these teachers ........... The way they inspired us ,
the way they dedicated their life for emerging as Great Teachers ....
Had they been in any other country, they would have been National
Heros ..... I know RK sir would be always wondering about simplifying
physics to make it palatable for his students .... AN Sir would have
always wished to see his children using good English and developing
good reasoning skills..... Varkey Sir would only be happy if all the
students perform equally well ....... The free flow of words from the
tongue of Varrier sir, ability of Bhaskaran Sir to draw paralells
from the old Classics and applying in todays context ....... The
grammar base laid by AK Keshava Pillai sir ........... most
importantly the kind of Trignometry that TVP sir pumped into our
head ......... Oh my god .... when my children asked me as to how I
am able remember and solve Trignometry & Alegebraic problems even
after decades together my answer was this ..... my god/goddess like
teachers ... TVP, Indira Devi P( IDP) and RADHA .Any intellectual
encounter with Gangadharan Sir would have been Brain Vita for his
students.
The old adage says ....
A good teacher teaches
An excellent teacher Guides
And a Great Teacher Inspires
This inspiration ignites the human intellect ... then there is no
stopping .....
Learning will go on ......
The position of todays sex workers ( Oh Shameful my dear music
teacher and his married lady colleague) is much below the position of
a good teacher . The greatest sin is comparing these hooligans with
the Graet Teacher Gods of yester years
