Liwan District is one of the old districts of Guangzhou . The new Liwan District has an area of 64.2 square kilometers and a population of 705,700 after putting administrative area of the former Fangcun District under administration of Liwan District. Dated back to Qing Dynasty, it was the original place called 13 Hong, a trading port linking Guangzhou with the outside world. It also serves as an area connecting Guangzhou with Foshan, Nanhai and Shunde.
