Robert Toombs (1810 - 1885) was a US Congressman and Senator from the State of Georgia. Toombs served as Secretary of State for the Confederate States of America, then later as a Confederate Army Brigadier General. His home in Washington, Georgia is preserved as a museum, and is on the National Register of Historic Places, and an official US National Historical Landmark.
