Duggerna Reef - The Pollock Holes

The reef protects the bay from full force of the Atlantic Ocean. The reef forms three bathing pools. The "Pollock Holes" are three natural rock-enclosed tidal swimming pools. The closest to shore, Pollock Hole 1 was at one time supposed to be a 'Ladies Only'. The furthest from shore, Pollock Hole 3 was deemed 'Men Only'. While 'Ladies Only' it seems was never observed by bathers, 'Mens Only' was until recent years, well observed and even now you may encounter a naked male swimmer bent on keeping the tradition alive.

Beware of tidal conditions. The sea will come in behind you and trap you on the outer rocks.
