The Wainfleet Bog Conservation Area covers 801 hectares (1980 acres) and was purchased by the N.P.C.A. in 1996. Located in the Township of Wainfleet and the City Port Colborne, this Conservation Area is part of the largest, least disturbed peatland in Southern Ontario. This site preserved this unique bog ecosystem for its water holding capabilities, unique plant and wildlife habitat, and diversity within the regional landscape.
