Apart from the Township of Tenghilan, most of Kampung Chinese People are populated around Kampung Pangalan Area or nearby its surounding. And there are Chinese farmings, plantations, padi fields & rubber estates. Most of Chinese in this Kampung pangalan are self-cultivation. There is trading shop operating by my friend Yen Ah Choice & his family. Beside this Kampung pangalan along the Tenghilan main road is Kampung Bunga where you would find most of the local Original Native Bajaus. This Kampung is also believed to be the very beginning of inter-marry between Chinese Males & local Natives Kadazan-Dunsun Females. The Local Chinese + Kadazan-Dusun Cemetery speaks clearly for itself.

  • Sorry, I am not that well educated in Bahasa. Thanks for your correction! Take care!
  • Last year August I went back to attend my sister Ah Lin's eldest son wedding party & I managed to meet some of the Tenghilan people. I met an old man who live in Pangkalan & his name called Ah Loong short but very healthy Tenghilan Senior. I invited him for a drink in Tenghilan Kedai but he honestly & politely responsed that he just had one. So we had a chat then. I know he is related to Pangkalan Yen Ah Choi, Ah Siew & Ah Pin 3 brothers & their families. I am friend of Yen Ah Choi, Ah Siew & Ah Pin with we attended Primary School in Tuaran once upon a time. Regard to all the them & may 2009 Chinese New Year bring them good Health & Prosperity! 3 CHEERS~~~
  • I also spoke to the late Sin-B 2nd daughter, Oh-Yo, whose husband was a teacher before retired. He passed aways a few years back due to Kidney problem. I know Sin-Diong too the eldest son of late Sin-B. Sin-B is the elder brother of ex-Tenghilan Kapitan Koh Bah-Chi. There are some other Chinese & Sino-Kadazan/dusun in Pangkalan too. Some live nearby opposite the Chinese cum Sino-kadazan/dusun cemetery. Our Leongs Rubber & Farming estates also around this area.
  • Happy Chinese New Year! May all Tenghilan People have a better 2009 EARTH-OX year! 3 CHEERS~~~
  • This is a historic spot in fact because it is the most earliest stage of Chinese Settlement in Tenghilan where the trading business began because its river leading to Tuaran via the swampy area. My beloeved mother & my uncle told me about the story of how they began the trading business from Tuaran as well as from Kota Belud. They used the small sepan boat which later converted into a motor boat to ferry their daily goods of supplies. They used horses to carry bags of sugar etc from Kota Belud via the winding & hilly road till the main road had been completed from Tuaran-Tamporuli-Tenghilan-Kota Belud which evetually lead to Kudat up-north the tip of North Borneo. I had also written a few websites about Tenghilan history, Tenghilan people, Tenghilan Sino-Kadazan-Dusun Cultures & Tenghilan Leongs etc before I lose my memory. Some of them here which I had been written had been erased for no reasons! My main idea is just very simple:- to contribute a little bit of what I know or what I can recall or remember about the history of Tenghilan growth & its development for many generations to come to know & understand their roots!
  • I wonder if I can visit one of Primary Schoolmate Mr Yen Ah Siew in Pangalan in my next visit very soon if I have enough time. Perhaps to meet some my friends there too!
  • No chance at all but I managed to meet his wife in Tenghilan shop!
  • If ever I have a chance again I would like to revisit my old friends in this Kampung Pankalan.
  • Happy Chinese Lunar New Year in Y2011.
