The Campanile, also affectionately referred to as "The Shaft" by most students, was designed by local Georgia artist Richard Hill. It was an addition to the Georgia Tech campus when it became home for the Olympic athletes.
Now most people eat lunch, study, sleep in between classes here. People also like to go and walk around in the fountain, but that's gross, so don't do it.
You can also climb to the top, but I wouldn't recommend that either.
