St. Jude's sits on the site of the Bastanchury Packing House (also known as the Sunny Hills Packing House), which was served by the Pacific Electric, Union Pacific, and AT&SF railroads. The packing house packed citrus for the Bastanchury Ranch and other area growers. Santa Fe's right-of-way, after the rails were pulled up, was widened and paved to become today's Bastanchury Road.
