The Institute of Social Studies (ISS) is an international institute of higher education on social and economic change with a focus on development processes. It was founded in 1952 by the Dutch universities to assist in the training and further education of professionals, especially from developing countries.

The Institutes academic staff represents an exceptional range of experience and theoretical interests. Over 10,000 students from more than 160 countries have studied at the Institute.
