Knjaževac (Serbian Cyrillic: Књажевац) is a town and municipality situated in the eastern part of Serbia bordering the Republic of Bulgaria and is part of Timočka Krajina region. It is found between 43°20' and 43°45', northern latitude and between 22°11' and 22°41' eastern longitude.

Event prayer at the foot of Midžor Tourist and business event “The meetings at St George’s Day – Prayer at the foot of Midžor” is held in the villages of Vrtovac and Balta Berilovac . The event starts in Vrtovac, where the procession in honor of St George’s Day and St George, the protector of cattle breeders, takes place. The procession ends by slaughtering a lamb adorned with a flower wreath and a candle on the horn in front of the cross St George’s face is carved in. The event continues in Balta Berilovac where, in edition to sports competitions, local villagers of Stara Planina compete in preparing old dishes. Sabor na Panadžur At the foot of Stara planina in the village of Jalovik Izvor near Knjaževac every year at the Assumption on 28th August is held a popular music competition called “Panadžur” [village fair] which gathers: singers accordion players, pipers, bagpipers, trumpeters and brass bands.
