Comments

  • The Stadium provides a point of interest if you care to walk from the Sanctuary of Apollo Ylates and the ruins of Kourion. You can freely sit on the Stadium's seats and run about like an ancient athelete. You may also see the ruined rock water channel (or 'pipe') and areas of rock outcrop where stone has been cut. The Stadium was built probably for pentathion sports during the rule of Antonius II in the 2nd century AD and was destroyed in the 4th century, although the area may have been used at an earlier time for horse races.
