Originally constructed as one of the Air Force Station's Ground-Air Transmit Receive ("GATR") sites to communicate with aircraft, the structure was quickly converted for use as a bowling alley for the AFS staff & families. It is now a land mobile radio site used by NPS, State of California, and other users.
