Oak Island is a neighborhood (and island) in Gilgo-Oak Beach-Captree, NY. It is unique in the fact that it is only accessible via boat. Residents park in a private lot off Ocean Parkway and either row or motor across the inlet to their homes. Though it was once purely a summer retreat, there are now some yearlong occupants who must have some of the more interesting commutes in the NYC metropolitan area.
