The Chilgol Revolutionary Site was once the home village of Kang Pan-sok, mother of DPRK President Kim il Sung. Pan-sok is referred to as "the mother of DPR Korea" and she grew up in Chilgol-ri, a town once in Phyongan Province. Kim il Sung attended middle school here and sites here include the schoolhouse where President Kim attended, a replica of the Presbyterian Church Pan-sok and President Kim communed, recreations of Pan-sok's home, statues of the Revolutionary Mother and Kim il Sung.
