The Louisiana (Bristol)

United Kingdom / England / Bristol / Wapping Road
pub / public house, Grade II Listed (UK), 19th century construction, music venue

Built as The Bathurst Hotel in 1809 to cater for the sailors and travellers the new Bathurst Basin, to an unusual design with balconies and railings reminiscent of New Orleans. This was probably the inspiration for its present name The Louisiana.
When the Garrick’s Head on Broad Quay was pulled down in 1978 the landlord took over the Bathurst Hotel and re-named it The Garrick’s. The name was changed again in 1982 to The Smugglers.
One of Bristol's premier indie and folk live music venues at present, with 140 capacity of main stage and 45 capacity cellar venue for intimate acoustic sessions.
This 19th century public house is grade II. listed building.
