The University Library was founded in 1836 to promote undergraduate studies and postgraduate research and has recently expanded the opportunities for electronic resources (including Library Information System, CD-ROM network and access to INTERNET).

The working interdisciplinary collection of 80.000 volumes of books and almost 80.000 volumes of journals enhances future plans for development, resource-sharing and effective callaboration with other university libraries.

Since 1994 the central library is located in two buildings. The first at the building of Patision, has a collection of 30.000 volumes of books, and 10.000 volumes of journals.

The second in the Campus of Zografou provides computing facilities (OPAC, CD-ROM bibliographic database) through a local area network and it accommodates a collection of 30.000 volumes of books and 50.000 volumes of journals. Departmental libraries also with 100.000 volumes of books and 40.000 volumes of journals run in parallel to the central library located at different buildings in the Campus.
