The smaller middle Bell Block was constructed in 1867, while the red-bricked Central Chambers were finished in 1890. This has been probably the most prestigious office space in Ottawa, but in the effort to maximize its real estate value, a modern highrise building was added at the back in 1994, called "The Chambers". The Bell Block serves now as its main entrance.
