"Lovers' Lane" and Pavillion of 800th anniversary of Moscow (Moscow)

Russia / Moscow / Moscow
 interesting place, public garden

This began as monument commemorating the 800th anniversary of the founding of Moscow. Placed here in 1947, it includes a small pavilion with six columns and three panels whose bas-reliefs tell the story of Moscow's past. There was a small pool with a fountain that no longer functions. Both were recently cleaned and repainted. The perimeter is lined with trees and small benches.

In the summer of 2007, the Lovers' Lane project raised 170,000 rubles ($6,650) to erect a monument to love -- they restored the grounds of the 800th anniversary monument and added a clock stopped at five minutes to six, the so called 'lovers' meeting time'.
