The station dates from May 1876 (when it was opened along with the line) and is staffed on a part-time basis. There are a range of facilities available (including waiting room, toilets and a souvenir shop) in the main buildings on the southbound platform.[1] The platforms are linked by a footbridge that was formerly located at Guiseley until electrification of the Wharfedale line in 1994 made it redundant. It was then dismantled and re-erected here to allow the old foot crossing at the north end of the station to be taken out of regular use.
