A huge open space in Tachikawa Showa Kinen Park with nice grass. People come here to play sports, watch the cherry blossoms, and have picnics.

This is the largest open space within the Park. The turfed surface alone is double the size of Tokyo Dome, 11 hectares in total. To make the best use of this vast area, various types of events can be held. All year round a variety of programmes can be held such as open air concerts, hot air ballooning test flights, firework displays, ladies and family relay marathon events, 'frisbee' disc training.
It is indeed a large open space, and can also act as a temporary evacuation area in times of earthquakes and resultant disasters. A deep well for water in emergencies is provided.
