Sir SayajiRao Gaekwad III invited Lewa Patels from Ahmedabad for trade and originally stayed in Champaner Village near Pavagadh. In this neighbourhood, Kadva Patels also made their prime residence. On the basis of these two Patel communities, there are two subdivisions called Lewa Sheri and Kadva Sheri. Many of the residents were freedom fighters in quit India movement in 1942.
