Epping Forest is a private community located just outside of Annapolis, MD, USA. Epping Forest, Inc. owns and maintains the roads and all Community areas within Epping Forest out of community funds which are collected by the County for us. Epping Forest is a waterfront community on the Severn River which feeds into the Chesapeake Bay. The community has a clubhouse, beach area, marina and tennis courts available to all residents and their guests. A gatehouse is manned at different times to control access to the Epping Forest.
In an article printed on August 6, 1984, the Capital described Epping Forest as a "Magical Severn community where ... roads wind around large trees and steep hills. No bulldozers have come here to flatten out the earth for easy access. Vines cling to trees and make some of the narrow thoughfares look like green tubes sloping down to the Severn River. Look closley at the encroching greenery and you almost expect to see a gnome or two scamper across the roads".
Epping Forest is generally a close knit community where many of the neighbors know each other. In the summertime people tend to spend alot of time at the Beach/Clubhouse area to swim, eat, drink and have a good time. There are several yearly events (such as the Bull Roast, Oyster Roast, and Labor Day Events) that bring the whole community together. Additionally there are alot of kids around. It is not unusual to see 20 -30 kids playing on the beach. Many times new neighbors get to be known as someones mom or dad. Whether, you are young or old - Epping Forest is a great place where the kids can play and the adults can relax.
