Aram Ilyich Khachaturian (June 6, 1903 – May 1, 1978) (born in Tiflis, Georgia, Russian Empire) was an Armenian composer whose works were often influenced by Armenian folk music.

The authors of the bronze monument are architect Igor Voskresensky and sculptor George Frangulian The sculpture represents Khachaturian in minutes of creative inspiration in an environment of musical instruments.

It opened on October, 31st, 2006. The spouse of the president of the Russian Federation Lyudmila Putin, the president of Armenia, Robert Kocharian and the mayor of Moscow, Yury Luzhkov took part in the ceremony.
