  • The building was built in 1925-1927 under the project of I. Rerberg. Construction was carried out construction firm "Gosstroy". Earlier this place was the building of the Moscow university boarding school. It was demolished in the early 1910s for the construction of a complex of houses profitable insurance company "Russia". In connection with the outbreak of the First World War, construction was interrupted. During the construction of the Central Telegraph it was used already erected foundations and walls. For decades, the tradition was festive illuminations Central Telegraph Office in the form of moving pictures. In 1980, the Moscow Olympics in the heart of a site was built a new building (architects N. Sheverdyaev, VI Utkin, AP Melikhov), stylistically unified with the main building. In the Central Telegraph building since 1985 operates the departmental Museum of History of the Central Telegraph
