The Alamo is a former mission and fortress compound, now a museum. Originally it was named the Misión San Antonio de Valero when it was established in 1718 as a way station between missions already existing in East Texas and other base missions in Mexico. It was well over 100 years old when it became the focal point for the Battle of the Alamo, fought March 6, 1836. The Alamo has ever since been remembered and associated with that battle, and today is a popular tourist attraction.

  • Visiting the Alamo is almost a religious experience.
  • REMEMBER THE ALAMO!!!!!!
  • No basement, unfortunately. It's not something they teach you in school, it's something you have to experience.
