Varner-Hogg Plantation State Historic Site consists of 66 acres along Varner Creek. The park was donated to the State of Texas in 1957 by Miss Ima Hogg, daughter of 21st Texas governor James S. Hogg, and was dedicated and opened on March 24, 1958, the 107th birthday of Governor Hogg. The park is administered by the Texas Historical Commission.

The park is open to visitors Tuesday through Sunday. The primary attraction is the plantation house, built in 1835 by the enslaved workers of Columbus R. Patton, the site's second owner, and later modified by the Hogg family. Miss Ima Hogg furnished the plantation house with antiques from her collection, focusing on American decorative arts from 1840-1870. Other features on the site include the ruins of the sugar mill and slaves' quarters; the Patton Family Cemetery; the remains of an oil well called "Miss Ima No. 4"; and "Governor Hogg's Bathtub." The site is also popular for outdoor weddings, receptions and portrait-taking.
