Kampung air or Kampung Ayer (old Spelling) as it was known earlier, was the lower part of Jesselton (now Kota Kinabalu) where the cinema and seedy nightspots were found since 1960s. It was a satelite town next to Jesselton. Besides it were the water houses on stilts where Asia City stands today.
