Jharsa was dominated by Muslims before partition. It was given to Begum Sumru of Sardhana, Meerut by Shah Alam and was captured by the British in 1836 though it remained until nominal Mughal hegemony until 1857. The village offered refuge to freedom fighters from Delhi and Rohailkhand in 1857 where many chose to remain here after the war was over. The village had an excellent Mughal era mosque that was demolished by Hindu fanatics in 1992. They also destroyed historical havelis, carvansarais and monuments. The village is now engulfed by mad expansion of Gurgaon and may soon become history at the hands of greedy developers.
