This Drop Zone has it's own chute shake out ~100 meters east of the muster area which itself is the sandy area on the south side of the road. Flight direction is usually west to east. Major hazards are light tree coverage, although the risk goes up dramatically at the fringes, light foliage, and a noticeably wide and steep ravine running roughly west-east on the east side of the drop zone in the middle.

  • Yes, the ravine will get you good if you don't pay attention at night. Also, this is the drop zone where most of your CASA 212 and Twin Otter jumps occur. Sometimes, if you go out there during a special forces jump, you may be able to get on as a strap hanger and "earn" a foreign set of jump wings. that is how I obtained my Chilean jump wings.
  • My father was in the Army and we lived at Ft. Bragg in the 1960's. My brother and I used to ride our dirt bikes at St. Mere Eglise (occasionally chased away by MP's), and we watched a lot of jumps there. I have a lot of very fond memories of the DZ.
  • Green berets,green holms...
