Glidden is an unincorporated community located on Interstate 10 west of the city of Columbus in Colorado County, Texas. The population was 345 as of the 2000 Census.
Located on a main line of the Southern Pacific Railroad, it was established in 1885 by the Galveston, Harrisburg and San Antonio Railway on 159½ acres of land bought from T. J. Oaks, and served as a major railroad maintenance facility stop between Houston and El Paso.
