Formerly (Barrington Hall) the largest house of the University Students Cooperative Association in Berkeley, California. At one time the most infamous place in Berkeley, a tall order, Barrington was one of the oldest student coops in the United States when it was closed due to drug sales and poor management in 1990. It was originally an emergency shelter for refugees of the San Francisco Earthquake of 1906, later converted to apartments, and a coop after 1935. The US Navy used the building to house workers at the Richmond shipyards during World War II. A complete history of the building can be found at www.ejinjue.org/projects/thegreenbook/
