The Tata Theatre is considered an acoustic gem in South Asia. It is a dream come true of Dr J J Bhabha’s vision “an auditorium, where 1,000 people could hear the delicate sounds of Indian instruments without the recourse to electronic amplification".

Renowned artistes find it a pleasure to perform at the Tata Theatre and look forward to their recitals in this hall. The likes of Yehudi Menuhin, Ustad Vilayat Khan, M S Subbalaxmi and others have performed at the Tata Theatre. Apart from being the NCPA’s principal facility, for music, dance and drama, the Tata Theatre has also been utilized for special cultural programmes for India’s state guests and visiting dignitaries.
