Hospital Point

Hospital Point is where the USS Nevada, the only U.S. battleship to get underway during the Dec. 7th attack, was beached to avoid blocking the entrance to the harbor.

  • Nevada actually grounded herself directly across from Hospital Point.
  • Former site of Naval Radio Station Pearl Harbor. NPM, as it was known, replaced an earlier naval radio station that was active between 01 Oct 1906 to 1916. NPM used a triatic wire antenna array like those at NRTF Lualualei (high frequency) and Chollas Heights in San Diego. The site was later replaced with the stronger, and easily expanded, site at NRTF Lualualei in 1936.
  • This is correct. Nevada beached across from Hospital point in the little inlet there to be as far out of the main channel as possible.
