  A geographical region having located on the river sand bed of Mahanadi-Devi-subsidary river system normally paddy and khariff crops cultivation is low and rich sandy-soil for cocanuts, cashew etc.The sandy-soil is of saline conent.partucularly the villages situated on the heaps of river-sands carried by floods before 400-500 years back.The name 'mala' means hamlets and Marichipur-was a princely state ruled by local kings.The name may be not in use now.
