The Cathedral Church of St Peter and St Wilfrid, commonly known as Ripon Cathedral, is a cathedral in the North Yorkshire city of Ripon.. It was founded in 672, when it is believed to have been the second stone building erected in the Anglo-Saxon Kingdom of Northumbria. The crypt dates from this period.
The Cathedral is one of the UK's smallest, yet one of the tallest at the same time.
John Richard Walbran (1817-1869) he was twice mayor, in 1856 and 1857. His Guide to Ripon and Harrogate first appeared in 1841
