E. T. Barwick Mills / Barwick-Archer / Barwick-Monarch

USA / Georgia / La Fayette /
production, carpet / flooring shop, textile industry, manufacturing

Because of its leadership in tufted carpet technology and synthetic materials, E. T. Barwick was at one time the world's largest carpet producer. This was one of Barwick's largest mills. Has been closed for decades, was used at various times as a Mohawk warehouse, and now sits empty (as of summer 2007). Mill is 909,000 square feet with direct access to a Chattooga and Chickamauga Railroad line (formerly the Tennessee-Alabama-Georgia Railway). The tracks now end just beside the plant and the railroad line has been inactive since the line closed in 2009.
