Our Student Body: We have 22,636 students representing 41 U.S. states and 68 foreign countries. They're a culturally diverse group and they come from a broad economic spectrum.
The Campus: The main campus, in the heart of Akron, Ohio, has 81 buildings on 218 acres. Landmarks include the high-tech Goodyear Polymer Center, the renowned E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall and the stately Buchtel Hall. Students also enjoy the massive Student Wellness and Recreation Center, as well as the new Student Union.
Academic Choices: More than 200 undergraduate majors and areas of study; more than 100 master's degree options; 17 doctoral degree programs; and four law degrees.
Our Distinguished Faculty: We have more than 725 full-time faculty members, about 84 percent hold a Ph.D. or the highest degree in their fields.
Our Student Organizations: There are more than 200 student groups, including sororities and fraternities, bands, gospel choir, theatre guild and many others.
The Academic Year: We have two 15-week semesters, the first beginning in August and the second in January. There also is an optional 15-week summer semester.
Tuition and Costs: Full-time tuition is $7,933.68 for two semesters for Ohio residents; parking is $220 per academic year. The surcharge for nonresident students is $290.82 per credit hour. For books and supplies, estimate about $900.00 for the academic year. The College of Applied Science & Technology is $3,274.92 a semester for Ohioans. For nonresident students in the College of Applied Science & Technology the surcharge is $274.37 per credit hour. (All tuition, fees and estimates are subject to change. Based on your class selection, academic level and major, you may be assessed miscellaneous fees.)
Room Fees and Meal Plans: Room costs are $4,494 and up, depending on the location per academic year. Meal plan options run from $2,298 to $2,488.00 per academic year, depending on the number of meals chosen.
Intercollegiate Sports: We have 17 NCAA Division I-A Intercollegiate Athletic teams for men and women that compete in the Mid-American Conference (MAC). Congratulations: 2005 - 2006 MAC Champions - Men's Soccer, Football and Women's Cross Country, indoor and outdoor track-and-field.
