This stop was layed-out rough-grade along with this segment of Interstate 295 in the late 1960's/early 1970's.
The rest area building and parking area was finaly built 1983. It has large provide restrooms and travel info., however the building closed 2004.
The rest area was previously dedicated to Howard Stern by Gov. Christine Whitman in 1993 before being revoked by Gov. Jim McGreevey.
All of the parking is still available.
