On the heels of its first New York opening and the announcement of another restaurant coming to Lewis Center, the beloved fried chicken spot Hot Chicken Takeover has an addition that may be the most exciting of the bunch for Columbus denizens.

It appears that Hot Chicken Takeover will open a new restaurant in Grandview.

Hot Chicken Takeover posted a photo of the former Sweet Carrot space, located at 1417 W. 5th Ave., to its Instagram account with a caption that reads: “Hey new neighbor, see you soon. #HCTgrandview#comingsoon.”

  • Consistently has the best quality meat that I have been able to find in Columbus. Prime Beef. Their chicken is fresh, not frozen, and thus lacks the beaten up, drowned in melted ice water look. I like the pork too. But the beef is where it's at. They have skirt steak that's unbelievable- but you probably will have to order it ahead of time. It goes fast. My favorite is definitely their ribeyes, fantastic marbling. You are going to pay for the privilege of buying prime meat, but really, their prices aren't bad, especially considering what you are getting. They have pretty good produce in the summer, but the winter stuff is nothing special. Rife's tries to carry local/Ohio goods, which is a plus, especially from spring to fall. To sum it up, I don't even bother getting my beef anywhere else, even the mundane cuts like chuck. It's just that good, and it's worth it. I'm religious about Rife's, to the point that I just can't bring myself to buy meat from the supermarket, even if Rife's is closed and I have nothing to cook that night. I'd rather not eat an inferior product.
  • Agree on the high quality of Rife's beef cuts. They're also excellent on locally-grown vegetables & fruits in season. I'm not as emphatic as Patarroyo, but given the choice, I'll patronize them over Giant Eagle or Kroger any time.
