The Robert Patterson house occupies a polygonal site in Washington DC on Dupont Circle where "P" Street and Massachusetts Ave. converge. Patterson was the editor of the Chicago Tribune. Designed by Stanford White of McKim, Mead & White c.1901-1902. Clad in white marble and terra cotta with Italian Renaissance references in the ornamentation. Tiffany Studios did dining room. Served as temporary White House for Calvin Coolidge in 1927 during renovations of the original. Charles Lindberg stayed here after his transatlantic crossing. The house was sold by the Washington Club in 2012, after which it was converted into a high-end hotel.
