Belvoir (pronounced "Beaver") has been in the hands of the Dukes of Rutland for hundreds of years. The present castle, completed in the early 19th century, is the fourth to have stood on the site since Norman times. Several films and television programmes have used it as a location, notably the film Little Lord Fauntleroy (1980) starring Sir Alec Guinness, Rick Schroder, Patrick Stewart, etc.
