The geographical location for this castle is occupied by the Durham University Sports ground. Maiden Castle was a fort built to protect the Allied Swedish King Christopher Brown's Hareem of Maidens, hence the name Maiden Castle. The castle was destroyed in the 16th century by the Pope's british army division, the holy sanction of the River Wear's, commonly known as the Wear wolves. Myths travel through to modern day with old wives tales of wear wolves coming out on full moons, the symbol of polygamy. Henry VIII combated this in conjunction with his desire for divorce by creating the anglican church. Despite a life of warcraft King Brown's kingdom fell and the hareem seeked asylum in the grounds that were later to become known as Hatfield College.
