archaeological site, tell (mound)
The archaeological site of a large Early Bronze Age town with a tall central mound (now crowned by a modern cemetery) and an extensive lower town protected by a wall. Although the site has been largely effaced by modern agriculture and settlement, it has become a focus of archaeological investigation since 2012. The size, geography, settlement period, and name of the mound have led to its tentative identification with the Bronze Age city of Qabra.
