The Seventh-day Adventist Church of Valga is part of the worldwide Seventh-day Adventist Christian Church and was founded in 1909.
The name Seventh-day Adventist embodies two important beliefs for us as a church. ‘Adventist’ reflects our passionate conviction that Jesus’ return (‘advent’) is imminent. ‘Seventh-day’ refers to the Biblical Sabbath, which since creation has always been on the seventh day of the week, i.e. Saturday. The mission of the Adventist Church is to proclaim the everlasting gospel to all nations in the context of the three angels’ messages (Revelation 14:6-12), leading them to accept Jesus as their personal Savior, uniting them with His church, and teaching them to prepare for His soon return. We have much in common with other Christians. We confess and serve the same God and similarly base our hope on Jesus Christ — His life, death, resurrection and return — and on the future life, the victory of life over death. In common with all Christians, we value the standard translations of the Bible as the source of divine revelation, the authoritative standard of doctrine and lifestyle. We believe that spiritual and mental health on the one hand and physical well-being on the other are closely related. Therefore, the church strives to be a center through which people are served in their physical, mental, social and spiritual needs. The church hosts meetings of the Rheumatology Association, where the principles of a healthy lifestyle and their application to everyday life are taught. Used clothes and shoes are also distributed, healthy cooking courses are held. Children's and health camps are held.
